About Konstantine Karatenislis
I am a dedicated professional concert clarinetist and woodwind educator based in Sydney, offering structured private clarinet lessons in-person and online Australia-wide.
In high-level concert performance, preparation, discipline, and clarity are non-negotiable. Performances demand consistency under pressure, absolute reliability, and a deep understanding of fundamentals. That same professional standard shapes how I teach.
A Professional Performance Mindset
Professional performance depends on systems, not shortcuts. This perspective allows me to guide students with clarity and purpose, helping them understand not just what to practise, but why each element matters.
- Clear Preparation Strategies: Structured weekly blueprints that show students exactly how to structure home practice.
- Reliable Technical Foundations: Embouchure, voicing, breath support, and finger mechanics built properly in sequence.
- Consistency Under Pressure: Stagecraft and performance psychology tools so tone and technique hold up in exams and auditions.
"Strong Fundamentals Create Freedom."
I do not rush students through grades or repertoire without the necessary understanding in place. Students move forward only when previous material is clearly understood and technically secure. While progress may appear slower in early stages, this approach leads to faster, more reliable improvement later and a much higher long-term standard.
What Students Gain
- Clarity around how to practise effectively at home
- A strong, controlled, and consistent sound across all registers
- Improved technical ease, finger dexterity, and articulation
- Confidence in performance, AMEB exam preparation, and band auditions
Most importantly, students develop independence — the ability to solve problems, refine their playing, and continue improving beyond the lesson.
Where Lessons Take Place
In-person lessons are taught from a private home studio in Waterloo, Sydney — a quiet, dedicated space set up specifically for focused, one-on-one instruction.
Online lessons via Zoom are available for students anywhere in Australia, taught with the exact same structure and standard as in-person sessions.
Exact studio address is provided upon enrolment.
Long-Term Vision
My goal is to develop high-standard clarinetists with a great attitude — musicians who are thoughtful, disciplined, and confident in their preparation.
Over time, this studio aims to be known for producing clarinetists who not only play at a high level, but approach their musical work with maturity, curiosity, and professionalism.
